Project Scheduling Workshop (Self-paced)
Regular price $79.00
Project scheduling is a constant job. You're continually tweaking the schedule, chasing for updates, and trying to get people to confirm estimates. It's time-consuming.
With a few scheduling techniques under your belt, you can cut the time you spend on scheduling and gain confidence building your project schedule. The Project Scheduling Workshop will show you how.
This highly practical course focuses on how to do real-life scheduling, when you are reliant on other people to give you info... and they aren't expert at estimating.
The recorded video course gives you practical advice on:
- setting good foundations for planning
- getting people to work with you to break down the work
- helping others estimate
- managing the schedule and staying on track.
Each session includes plenty of actionable tips to make project scheduling easier and more efficient.
You'll also get access to the recorded Q&A calls from when this course was taught live, so you can learn from other project managers' experience.
Session 1: Planning to schedule
You’ll review the groundwork for a great project schedule including priorities and principles for planning. You’ll create a personal framework for planning success and/or a big picture plan if you are managing multiple projects (depending on where you are in your projects).

You’ll move from your personal prep to working with others. We’ll talk about how to get people to tell you what you need to know for the schedule, how to break down the work, and estimating techniques. You’ll get ‘plug and play’ conversation starters to help you ask the right questions and a schedule audit checklist.
Session 3: Managing your schedule
You’ll learn practical tips for making your schedule work longer term. We’ll talk about dependency management and schedule risk, tracking progress and holding people accountable, how to schedule when you can’t see too far ahead and other tips!

- Schedule audit
- Reflection exercise
How long is the course?
This is a recorded video course. It is self-paced so you can watch it at your convenience. There is about 3 hours of video content, plus bonus videos.
What background do I need?
We have a mix of people in my workshops, from experienced project professionals wanting to learn more to share with their colleagues, to people managing their first project. You don't need any particular experience, but you will get the most out of it if you are currently working in a project environment.
I use Agile, is this right for me?
No. This workshop is aimed at people in a predictive environment (or a messy one, but not a formal Agile team). If you work in an Agile team that uses backlog grooming and sprint planning, this is NOT the course for you.
Is this training about scheduling tools?
No. There are hundreds of different project scheduling tools. Everyone who takes the course might use something different. We will be learning scheduling tips and techniques that will work regardless of what scheduling tool you use.
Is it right for me?
If you are literally just beginning in project management, or want to get into project management, then it might not be for you, simply because you’ll get more out of it if you are already working in a project environment with a real project to use the skills on.
Can I claim PDUs?
Yes. You will get an attendance certificate. This course is about 3 hours of learning so you can claim 3 PDUs against the Talent Triangle (claim the hours that you spend on the course materials – if you do the assignments you can probably claim more). I am not a PMI R.E.P. but that does not stop you claiming PDUs.
Can I claim the cost through my company?
Yes, if they are prepared to fund it! I can issue an invoice/receipt for your Finance team and take payment in a variety of ways.
When will you be running the workshop live again?
Probably some time in 2021, although I have no plans as yet.
All the ebooks, templates, checklists and bundles are digital files.
I'm unable to provide technical help, due to the variation between different IT systems.
Training courses are provided via the Teachery platform. You will get an email with your login details. If you do not receive them, please get in touch and let me know - I will make sure you have access to the course materials.
Here are some instructions that may help you access the ebook and template files if you are having trouble.
Are you trying to download on a mobile device like a phone or iPad? Most mobile devices will not let you open a .zip file, or download via a link. Please try to access the files via a desktop/laptop computer.
- Save the file to your computer.
- Right click
- Choose 'Extract all'
- Select a destination for your files (Browse to where you want them to be saved)
- Click Extract
- Navigate to where you saved the files to open them.
If you want to access the files on your mobile device, you can add them to iCloud or Dropbox so they are shared across your devices.
How to read a PDF file:
Your computer may already have Adobe Reader installed on it (most do). On an iPad, you can open a PDF file in iBooks.
If you don't have software on your device that can read a PDF file, pleaase install one. Adobe Reader is the most common software (it's free).
How to find your files:
This has happened to me multiple times: I download something and then can't find it on my computer! Check the Downloads folder (under My Computer). Or use Explorer to search for the name of the file you just downloaded. Sometimes you can also see the file in your browser download history.
